TRACK BAR

1979 F250 Dana 60 Front with Crossover steering and approx. 9" of lift. Considering adding a Front Track Bar for some added stability. Looking for some ideas, or if any vendors offer a bolt on style for the Denside. I am aware of WFO and Ruff Stuff that offer builder kits. Davis Offroad offers a nice bolt on kit for the Chevy squarebodys. Just curious if there is anything available for the Dentside.
Thanks

I have never seen a trac bar used with a leaf spring/sprung front suspention on a 73-79. I have never seen a bolt on kit to add a trac bar. Unless it was when a person swaps in SD axles. But they also go to a link and coil front suspention (like a 4wd 1/2 ton) and need a trac bar. https://www.battlebornbrakes.com/sup...le-conversions

But I understand the neeed for that stabablity feeling, with the cross over steering and having 9" of lift. Are you going to off road it? If so, that trac bar can limit your suspension travel range.

Maybe look at adding a sway bar set up instead? https://www.rockjock4x4.com/CE-9906-20

Trac bars swing axles through arcs, left to right at the axle end.
Leaf springs move axles up and down and the axles swing through slight arcs forwards and backwards depending on spring arch, length, and attachment to frame.

They don't mix well.

You might could use a Watts link setup.

TRACK BAR

Thanks for the reply 77&79, No off roading, just a pavement princess. My neighbor installed the Davis off road Track Bar on his squarebody. Looks like a simple but effective design (clean) see attached video to get the just of it.
. My truck drives great the way it is ( the wife even drives it ). Not really a must have, just looking to see if there is anything similar available for the Dentside.
Thanks

I am still thinking that a sway bar (like used on rock bouncers and monster trucks) would work better. At least in my mind it does.

A sway bar will work as it too goes up / down at the axle end ..... not right / left. Because it has end links, a sway bar will allow the axle to move as the leaf springs prescribe. Moving a truck on arched leaf springs up 9" puts a tremendous load on the frame trying to resist "rail roll" as side loads like curves try to roll the frame rails over. A Watts link is the only real cure .... or just park it.

Might help to see a under the front picture of the 1979 F250 Dana 60 Front with Crossover steering and approximately 9" lift that "diesel rookie" is asking about.

Not to worry. I added a Track Bar to my '77 Ford F350 Crew Cab pickup way way back in around year 2000.

With lots of lift, you'll want to mount the Track Bar as horizontal as possible, to prevent Bump Steer.
I simply took one off of a late '70's full sized Bronco, and used the frame mounting bracket also.
My cross-over steering is pretty level, with little lift.
You will want to come up with a clever mounting scheme for brackets to mount a track bar horizontal if possible.
At least match the angle of your steering Drag-Link so they aren't working against each other.

The leaf-sprung early Ford Super Duties also utilized a steering Track Bar, so pluck one off of a donor and go from there.

I am very happy with my track bar install and have not had any Death Wobble since the install.
