I'm took mt 53 apart over a year ago, it didn't really have working hood hinges. I have bought new ones but have no idea where they bolt to on the hood. I think I see 1 hole that may line up, but it seems there are 2 moving arms that need to bolt onto the hood?
Does anyone have pics of where the stock (repop) hinges bolt onto the hood?
Here's a picture from our forum showing the hinge location. The holes should be readily apparent. If you can't find them, maybe you can post pics of your hood and we can help you figure out what's missing.
...and while these may be aftermarket hinges, they bolt to the same place.

I have never seen the cross bracing on the hood from the center to the hinges. What is the purpose?
Because the hoods have tendency to flare out at the bottoms and flatten out across the top, sometimes from kids climbing on them, and that would help keep the arch in the hood. That set-up is homemade, probably by the owner.

Oh that is cleaver. Great idea for pictures and stuff.
