I have a 1995 Ford F150 V8 with 150,000 miles. When I try to start the engine I hear a CLICK and the electrical system goes dead. I then remove the Positive battery terminal and reconnect it and the electrical system powers up but when trying to start, the same thing happens. I have replaced the battery and the solenoid on the fender. Any ideas as to what could be the problem?
That sounds like a classic sign of a dirty or loose connection. I have experienced this many times, Check your connections for being dirty(most likely) or loose.
I'll give this a try but I'm not sure I understand why the electrical system would go dead after I try to start the truck and get a click and then nothing. It's almost like a relay was tripped disconnecting the batter from the electrical system. Perplexing but I don't know anything about electrics. Thanks!

It seemed weird to me the first times I experienced this. But now it seems old hat when it happens to me.
The main places to check. The inside of the battery cables where they hook onto the battery posts, yes I realize you replaced the battery but if the inside of the cable and the outside of the new battery posts weren't cleaned. The other end of the negative battery cable up to where it connects to the engine block in whatever manner. Also remember a cable could be shorting out internally.
