Intake plenum coolant o ring
Intake plenum coolant o ring
I was wondering if any of you have replaced this donut by loosening up the manifold enough to pry the old out and slip the new one in?
Are the intake plenum gaskets re-usable once loosened?
I was up in the mountains (40's) and of course the girl decided to start dripping coolant. I looked today once I got home and I am pretty certain it is the donut, but I cleaned it up with simple green and confirm eventually.
Thanks
Joe

One more thing to add:
2004
Can someone confirm these part numbers for me please?
Heater bypass pipe o-ring 3C3Z-9J469-AA
Plenum coolant donut W301767
I figure since the coolant is drained might as well change the heater pipe o-ring
Thank you

The fact that you have an ODAWG may be an issue; I don't know.
If stock:
Remove the alternator.
Loosen all the intake bolts to the point just before removal. You will need a flat ratchet to access the single intake bolt located under the fuel filter housing.
Remove the bolt that secures the fuel line leading to the pass head.
Remove the bolt that holds the heater pipe to the manifold (you'll have to bend the tab up).
Pry up the manifold slightly to get the donut in and out. If the EGR cooler is attached, there is enough flex for the small lift.
Reassemble.
I did an interim video for front cover removal before my computer had an issue, so that video was not completed, but the short one shows some of the details. No Narration.

Thank you Mark. I've got some work to do this fall and I might as well have the parts on hand.
I honestly get tired of this truck sometimes and the little evils that rear their head in certain circumstances.

The parts I need?
I sourced them from an OEM site online but thank you
Ignore that. I put it in the wrong thread, lol. It was supposed to be for Ford_Doc.
I was sweating my tail off until dusk, welding on the trailer all day in the heat and humidity. And I’m doing a 72-hour fast. Then, as I’m putting everything away, I see my left front tire is flat. While I have everything at the farm to fix a flat tire, I can’t find a nail. So I fill it up and see that in 45 minutes, it drops 12 psi. My drive home is 45 minutes. Fill up the tire. I have one of the little portable air compressors for tires if I need it, and head home.
So fix the tire, then go through the forums. You're lucky I didn’t give a carpentry answer.

I took a close look at my setup and decided against the short cut. The intake is so much larger than the OEM there is no wiggle room. All I need it something to not seat right trying to take a shortcut and double my work...that would really make my day
The turbo has to come out any way to install the new firewall coolant line that so conveniently started leaking after 8 years.
At that point i might as well do it right.
On a side note, the new OEM plenum o- ring is orange and not black.
Is it a different material or does anyone have an idea?
