I’ve got a 2000 F350 and I was towing a buds truck (2006) and saw he had factory auxiliary switches and a brake controller that was flush mounted to his lower dash. Obviously mine doesn’t have it. And I would like the switches and the brake controller. As it just looks cool! I know it’s a factory option for his year and mine didn’t have it. personally I’d rather not drill into my dash and mount things that won’t look factory if that makes sense. The first one looks factory, it looks amazing, while the second one just looks idk weird and off putting to me. if there’s a possibility and or a way for me to wire in those switches and that brake controller from a 2006 into my 2000. Any insight and or help would be greatly appreciated. Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for your time and or possible help.
Mechanically they should fit, you might need to swap out the lower portion of the dash for an '06+ to get the mounting provisions.
HOWEVER.
I don't think any of the wiring is going to be there, the BCM likely won't recognize it, and IIRC there's an additional pressure sensor in the brake master cylinder to make the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (what your buddy has) work properly - it's not just a pendulum-controlled, reactionary brake controller, it actually uses braking pressure to proportionally apply the brakes on the trailer. To get all of that stuff to work properly...I'm not sure how much work would be involved since I think '06 was the first year that was offered in Super Duties. Maybe someone has done it, but I haven't seen anything on it here.
Now, if you just want to mount your pendulum-style brake controller in that cubby, well, you're probably going to need to cut some holes.
You will need the following items to make is look like and function like that 06...
05+ lower dash
The upfitter switches -
The fuse box and wiring from an 05-07 truck. Located behind and above the glove box.
- you will need to wire this into your main fuse box and move some wires around to get it to work
The brake controller -
You will need the physical controller and the connector from the back.
You will need to pull the entire brake master cylinder as it has two sensors, one for Cruse Control the other for the brake.
There is a user that has documented this into his older truck but I don't have that info at this time.
The 2006 TBC needs a HS CAN network to operate properly. Your 2000 doesn't have the necessary network programming....as far as I can tell from the wiring diagrams.
My 05 didnt come with one, I think they were optional, but mine does have some wiring plugged into a "dummy" connector on the back of the plastic place holder box. Maybe yours has it too?

I was corrected, it was an option in 2005 (which is where your wiring plugged into a 'dummy' plug comes in). A 2000 model truck won't have that wiring because it wasn't an option.
