I have a 351w in a 94 F-250. Rebuilt engine stock bottom end, cam, aluminum heads, long tube headers. Truck has a speed density system and I fully removed the EGR system. I’m throwing check engine lights related to the EGR system. I want to have the truck tuned to ignore the EGR and maximize performance. What are my options?? Local shop told me I need to buy a Holley Terminator and have it dynod. Trying to keep this as cheap as possible.
If you want to keep the light off but not have EGR: Put the EGR valve and sensor back on with a block off plate between the intake manifold and the valve. Then connect the solenoid to the wire harness and reconnect the vacuum lines. Another expensive option is to replace the computer with one from Stinger Performance. The second option will allow you to tune for the changes you made.
I have a Tweecer and that is my only experience. I also have a 95 F250/5.8/CA/MAF.
That said, after I installed it and got the program set up, there is a box to click to tell the EEC-IV you do not have EGR. There is also a few settings to disable the check engine light. There are a lot of basic settings to make the engine run better that does not take a computer engineer to figure out.
If you want more, it's a huge learning curve. Is it rewarding? I guess it depends on how much frustration you can deal with. I don't think anyone says Tweecer is easy to use, but at this time, I have been able to fix my shift timing, quality [soft/firm], and now I can pull a certain pass in 2nd gear with improved economy from 5mpg to 7mpg.
I guess Quarterhorse is a bit easier. Both are cheaper than a complete system EFI system.
Check out the PimpX ECU by Stinger Performance. It's a Megasquirt ECU that plugs into your factory wiring.
Here's my writeup from when I installed mine. I have a manual transmission, so I didn't need transmission control.
If you need transmission control you will probably need the PimpXShift version.
I have an egr delete plug. If I were to just plug in the egr solenoids to the harness without any vac lines would that fool the computer into thinking everythings in place? I’m missing a solenoid so I need to buy another or I would just try it.

Computer is looking for a different voltage to determine if the valve is open or closed. How is a resistor with a set value going to do that? I don’t think that would work since the sensor is on the EGR valve with needs vacuum to move. You can remove the vacuum lines from the TAB & TAD solenoids to fool the computer. I ran the 302 that way for 5 years without setting any codes.
Maybe ill setup the EGR valve and solenoid to avoid CEL for now. Is anyone sure whether tab tad sensors need to be in place to avoid a light? Hard to find it seems. Only getting EGR code currently.

Your options are to add a Tweecer or Quarterhorse module with the OEM computer or replace it with a tunable Pimpx computer. The first 2 are the cheapest but most technically complex to use, the Pimpx isn't cheap but is easier to use.
