I've been searching the forums for two days now with no luck finding the thread I was looking for. I am having intermittent issues with my 2017 F250 Lariat. For example: when using remote start the radio comes on to AM when it was previously set to SIRUS. The heated seats come on when they were set to cool. I will get a message saying the back up camera or sensors are not working, or the lane lines on the camera screen don't turn with the steering while in reverse. I will also get various messages on the dash lighting up saying systems aren't working. Yesterday, it said the adaptive steering was not working and my steering wheel was turned 90 degrees but the truck was going straight! A month or so ago I disconnected both batteries and that seemed to do the trick but only temporarily. I had thought I found a thread on the forum that discussed this issue and several people recommended replacing a unit that is in the dash behind the screen. This unit can be bought from a guy who loads your vehicle info into it via the VIN. Any help finding the thread, the name of the unit, and the name of the business to purchase it from would sure be appreciated.
I seem to recall radio presets and such mentioned in that recent Ford recall notice that I received (it was issued primarily due to the rear view camera malfunctioning). The update that they apply to the SYNC3 system also resolves/stabilizes the pre-sets for the radio and other pre-sets, apparently. You might want to verify that you might be covered, and that flashing the SYNC3 system might resolve your issue. Go to the NHTSA site and plug in your VIN: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
there is also a thread and a few youtube videos about the engine bay fuse box.....there are pins on the circut board undersize. fords water drain solution is to let the hood vent drain onto the fuse box. open holes on the underside of the box...end result..corrosion on the pins and the electrical system goes bonkers.
if anything giving you problems has a fuse in the box , I would start with disconnecting the batteries and pulling the fuse box circut board to check for corroosion.
While looking over my rig for any obvious connection issues etc. I noticed this spliced into the positive cable on the passenger side battery. Any idea what it is ? should there be a cover, or connected to another spot? I couldn't see anything obvious...
