I recently installed the superchip programmer. If I add a cold air intake, do I have to have my programmer re-programmed in order for my truck to run at its full potential? Answers would be helpful!!! Also, does anyone know what the line pressure is on the performance level with the superchips factory option selected?
Intakes and exhausts don't impact programming and therefore no changes are needed. Besides, Superchips programmers can't be changed for custom items.... not yet at least.
I'm not sure what you're asking about line pressure? What its at in the scale? Percentage? PSI?
When you go into the superchips performance program you are asked about line pressure for shift changes. You have a choice of min - max settings. If you go to max setting and press the > button you get the superchips preset. What i am wanting to know is the line pressure that they have chosen as far as psi and will it have any long term effects on my truck later on down the road.I just dont want to have any leaks a couple of months down the road because the line pressure was to high.
TOOLBOY97,I installed a Transgo shift kit in my E4OD on my 98 F-150,while it helped,it still didn't shift like I wanted it to.So I also used the Suprechips programmer to increase the line preassure, that did it .Now I have a real snappy shift and that's with a 9 inch lift and 35" Swamper's SSR's.But with the stock tire's on it's really extreme. So I called the Tranny shop who built my C6(they specialize in high performance tranny's)I asked them about the shift and uping the preassure they said it was OK.Also due to the shift kit,I only had to increase my preassure half way on the programmer.
The SCMT's default setting is about halfway. You don't need to worry about leaks. This is pressure inside the valve body, during the shifts. Its not pressure in entire transmission. A firmer shift results in less clutch pack wear, cooler temps and longer clutch pack life.
