2001 F150 4x2 4.6
Looking at my cousin's truck. It was running fine all of a sudden it'd barely move way beyond limp mode. Had to be towed home. It's throwing a bunch of codes P1549, P1127, P1747, P0755, P0743, P1760, P0443,P1451, P0135, P0141, P0155, P0161, P1409, P1780, P0750, P1460, \C1230, B1352, B1359. The alternator was producing 18V so I replaced it. Still the same problems. I replaced the PCM still the same problems. I have a gut feeling since it all happen at once it must be 1 simple stupid thing causing it. I'm just not sure what to look for from here. I use an Otofix bi-directional OBDII scanner so I can test several functions yet I'm not getting anywhere. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Clear codes and retest
Find / purchase a 2001 PCED or camp out at your public library where you can use their AllData foe free
Start pinpoint tests with the lowest numerical code 443
That code pinpoint tests will probably shoot you towards processor replacement or a wiring issue
Hopefully, just something is unplugged
Damn straight
Not impressed with GEM running things on my 1997
Easy to diag but hell to fix
It was bad enough when a new GEM was 475 bucks, back when you could get one
Now that you can't, it's way worse
Even diag is hell with a shorted GEM
You have to quit drinking good whisky and start drinking Chasing Tail Ale
Trust me I've been going 1 code at a time and doing a lot of research. I did put in a new PCM and have the exact problems as the old 1 so that was a waste of money. I don't think it's the GEM and am leaning towards a bad or disconnected wire somewhere causing it to all go haywire at 1 time. I'm hoping somebody here has seen similar and can say look at this or that plug/ wires
I checked some of your codes and see a bunch of transmission codes and some O2 heater circuit codes. (If you want the best help do the code work and put the descriptions in your post so people can see them. Most people won't do the code searches on their own. Too many, and too tedious). Also, put something descriptive in your title. I only clicked "Overwhelmed" because I was bored and would click anything.
Maybe you have a short in the transmission circuitry. The wires are probably in the same harness as the O2 sensors. I've seen comments about a harness at the back of the engine that gets pinched and chafed.
Used to see those O2 sensors have 6 volts when the battery cable got old / sulphated / corroded
Those old ones had the O2 sensor wires running down to the starter in the same harness as the battery cable to the starter
If the codes were the exact same with the old processor, I agree, one problem sure could be the trans harness partially unplugged or faulty
I would Go Simple.Check and remove your Grounds and clean, sand each one.Its totally possible one craptastic ground is toast, and could cause alot of chaos.Replaced a Gem box in a 98 f250 5.4 all kinds of drama, Original board Looked clean, but dead battery all the time, stuff coming on No key,or not working. Not my truck but I've fixed alot on it.The 4x4 was real fun( 3 shops failed) in the past, but I fixed it.Relays were done.
