Please state weather or not you have a 4.6 or 5.4 I have heard of milage as low as 12 and as high as 25 please clear this up for me Thanks!!!

I have an 03 EB 5.4, and I get 13/18 on average. Sometimes more, somtimes less. One thought though, if you're worried about mileage, then you may need to rethink SUV's. I owned a '00 Olds Bravada and didn't get any better mileage. Poor mileage just kinda goes with the territory.

I was getting 20.1 mpg on the highway last night. Usually I get around 16 mpg in the city. But city driving in Texas involves long stretches too.

5.4L.

calculated or message center?

These figures you guys are posting, are they the message center figure or calculated via miles since fillup versus gallons put in?
Just curious?

I sem to average on city/highway combo 14.2 in all seasons except winter.
The computer in winter reads 13.3.
Probably due to remote start warmups.

'03, 5.4l 4x4.

Average in town 13.4
Average on the hiway 14.8.

Best ever, 16.2 Hiway.

Now why does the other manufacturer of full-sized SUV's with the same rear end and very similar displacement get better mileage? (according to personal freinds that drive them)

That's the real question to me.

I'm pretty close to tkd's numbers...

'03 FX4 Expy
5.4L
4x4
3.73
10,500
No Trip Computer

For the 10,500 mile average = 13.4

What I believe to be highway miles, average = 15.1

Best ever on highway 17.3

I would love to see my average go up, but if I was that worried about it, I wouldn't have bought her...and being 6'7" 270lbs, and wanting to tow my boat and trailer at 7750lbs, I didn't have too many choices.

My old 2000 2wd with a 4.6 averaged = 15.08 mpg. I tracked it for 121 fill-ups (or 2,432 gallons of gas!)

My 2003 EB 2wd with a 5.4 has averaged = 13.85 mpg. I've tracked 35 tanks of gas so far. (or 825 gallons of gas!)

They are both being used in similar conditions. They are my company vehicles so I do quite a bit of tracking!

Your mileage may vary!
