Driveline flush
PSA - check your rear.
Finally got the truck in to the dealer. Had to put it off during our busy time at work July-August.
Had a slight whine since new, wasn’t sure how bad or if it’s the new normal with the 10R140. Truck is used for electrical work runs 20-25k miles a year. Very few trailer miles and max trailer was about 8-10k.
Long and short is the rear axle bearings are toasty. And the driveshaft is too. One piece drive shaft. Dealer mentioned the driveshaft may not be covered under the powertrain warranty. I didn’t agree and he’s double checking.
Other than the rear, the truck has been a peach. Average 13.9mpg and the trusty 7.3 is a runner.
Damn shame really, who is running the PDI?
With the known QC issues from Kentucky you would figure someone at Ford would say; hey man, last line before the customer let’s pay an additional .5 hour and have the tech check the fluids. It is a $65,000 dollar vehicle. I’m sure it was under filled, almost made it to 50k.
Worst part is all the mates and coworkers chuckling at my hemorrhoidial rear. I’m not pissed off, just disappointed, “Somebody’s got it better & Somebody's got it worse”.
Other than that hoping for a quick turnaround, I have a few days off and need a few massive dump runs.
I’ll update with the parts and process soon. Check your rear dude.
Really sucks not having a truck, getting a loaner from work. Haven’t heard a peep from the dealer or Ford, I might reach out today or Monday.
Trash stinking need a dump run, need to trailer my buddy’s broke down bike for repairs. Man I miss my truck.
Warming up the crier bell.
