I changed the alternator on my 1998 ford club wagon that has a 5.4 l engine - the alternator is now charging the battery but when I go to start the van it keeps stalling - some say that the computer may have to relearn certain functions by taking it for a slow ride - the trouble is I can't go anywhere with the van for fear of getting stranded- any thoughts as to what I should do next - thanks for any advice - Joe
If you had the battery disconnected for long enough, it will clear the KAM (keep alive memory)
That means the computer will have to re learn idle speed and raw sensor data
Sometimes it takes a bit of driving (and stalling) before it re learns
I'm going to remove the air boxes again - there were two electrical connectors that I unhooked when doing the job - I'm wondering if it is possible that I connected them wrong - if that were even possible -
