Hello everyone my 1975 ford f250 I replaced the spark plug wires and changed the differential fluid and know when I accelerating mainly in 4th gear is has like shuttering or jerking when accelerating then it catches up and does it repeatedly but rpm doesn't drop much. And doesn't do it at idle like it's missing to trying to catch up. What could this be where is the fuel filter on this truck never replaced. It. Here is a picture all I did is replaced rear diff fluid and new spark plug wire and plugs?
also forgot to mention this has electronic ignition could have new wires caused this should I replace them with points?
Several things it could be obviously, but if you haven't checked your timing curve that's a likely cause.
Retarded timing usually just makes it gutless, advanced timing can cause a shutter or in worse cases pinging and knocking under heavier loads. if you're not able to check it just back the timing off a bit and see if it improves then you'll know.
Stock carburetor? If so, the filter should be screwed into the front of the float bowl, facing the front of the engine, where the hose goes from the pump you have pictured, to the carburetor.

Replaced fuel filter no changed put grease on new spark plug wires boots ever since then been acting up. Buying again new wires and rotor and distributor cap then will look into timing or vacuum leaks. How do you do basic timing on these old engines I have no clue to to check it set it or adjust it? Thanks
Thank you for all the help everyone figured it out put another set of higher qaulity spark plug wires on it with a new distributer cab which had corrosion on one of the holes, also put new rotor in it as well problem went away. I believe it was misfiring when pushing down gas petal also I checked the timing with light and it shows about 6 degrees on harmonic balancer.
Glad you got it all sorted out! Really quick work too.
But yes, as you found out, weak or insufficient or inconsistent spark will do things like this. Especially under load, as you were experiencing.
That corrosion messes things up. It’s not like modern vehicles where you can let them go for 100,000 miles without even looking under the hood. These things need a lot of TLC and often.
Was it specific sealant type grease used? Should keep corrosion at bay for a few more years. But anything other than specific for spark plug wires might cause issues.

they said use a like silicone grease but I put super lube sythetic grease on there if dried burnt on shouldn't have done that.
