Wiper

Hello everyone, can someone tell me where the wiper motor is installed ? Because I didn't take it apart and I have absolutely no idea where it goes.

Maybe send a note to TA455HO, Chad has an amazing knowledge of these trucks, but also has a lot of original reference books that might show drawings for the position and mounting angle for your truck and wiper motor. I don't know much about the earlier Slicks, only a little about the '65, '66 model year, but when you reach out to him, try to give him other info, like a picture of your build plate, and or at least reference the fact that it is an Government order for the Military and its year.

Good luck!!

Up above the radio. Lay on your back, slide in, and look up. Way easier if you don’t have a floor shifter. And aren’t 65 and over 275 lbs.

Here is a thread to look thru. The top 2 bolts that hold the bracket to the cowl are crimp nuts and cannot be reached with a tool, be sure the threads are clean and lubricated, because if one spins repairing it isn't a simple fix.

I'll duplicate the drawing that NumberDummy posted in the other thread, but this is from the earlier MPC showing the 1961 to 1963. It will be very similar.

Yes, the first thing to locate as @Crop Duster said is the bracket (17496) that bolts to the firewall that supports the motor. On the back side of the bracket is the grounding strap. Since the motor rides on rubber grommets, it needs a dedicated ground strap for the wiper motor low side. The bolts that go through the firewall needs to provide a good ground contact to the firewall so make sure to remove a small patch of paint where they attach. Could be any one of the 3 contact points. The bracket itself was originally silver cadmium which is not paint and doesn't interfere with electrical signals like paint can.

I'm only 47 and I weigh 105 kg but I think it's not going to be easy despite everything

This is exactly why I like this site. Here we are a group of enthusiasts covering 9 time zones, and the chances are, someone will have experience, or good reference material to help one another out. Good luck Willie, the only thing I can add, is to make sure your switch is in good working order. The ceramic on the back of my two speed switch was cracked, this allowed me to turn the switch beyond the stop and without knowing it. In my case, I found that if I turned the wipers on, and turned off the ignition, I could stop the wiper in a vertical position, allowing me to easily change the wiper blade. I then turned off the wiper switch beyond the stop, and the next time I fired up the old girl, I started to fill my cab with smoke from a melting wiring harness. I did quickly shut everything down and was able to pull the motor, and luckily for me, replace the burnt wires and bench test the motor, which luckily was not damaged. I fixed my switch, but have since replaced it with a junkyard find. I can add, that at (then 53) and 105 KG it was no easy task, and drained much of what little patience I have left. But staying calm, and saying a few cuss words and prayers, I was able to get it all done. Again, good luck!!

Also, if your wipers are like a 65 the shorter arm goes on the passenger side. If you are missing the clips I have no idea where to get them maybe @TA455HO does.

The original clips are incredibly small and easily lost and harder to install than the later version they made.
I have the 1961 and 1964 specific Ford Truck Parts and Accessories catalogs, and they both say this number.

A8A-17531-A - CLIP - WINDSHIELD WIPER ADAPTOR and CONNECTING ARM

Then the 1966 specific Ford Truck Parts and Accessories catalog lists this part number

C3SZ-17531-A - CLIP - WINDSHIELD WIPER ADAPTOR and CONNECTING ARM

Most of the 63-65 cars used this type of clip. This link to eBay will give you pictures of what they look like, and the part number is there, too - C3SZ-17531-A. It's probably the better choice for a simpler time with it. They are interchangeable with the older smaller style.

C3sz-17531-A for sale | eBay

And it is reproduced, too. At least Dennis Carpenter carries them
