Balast resistor
Ive been having an electical issue with my truck. The PO put a cut off switch in the truck. Prior to my restoration i took pics of most of the old wiring. Now to my issue. I did a cab swap and had to do a swap of the internal harness becuase the donor cab had idot lights and i had gauges. I have 8 to 10 volts on my dash lights and had to run 12v wire to the coil to get the truck to run. This lead me to trace the resistor wire circuit. I have torn into the harness and have found two resistor wires. My quess is some add another wire when they did the cit off. I want rewire the start and run circuit and use a ceramic balast resistor in place of res wire. Has anyone gone this route?
thanks

Here's the math if you are interested....
.8 ohm ballast resistance plus 1.2 ohm equals 2 ohms total.
The ballast resistor will drop about 5 volts (40%), leaving about 7 volts (60%) to the coil positive.
You should check this, key ON, engine not running.
