We dont have a pick-up but we have 2 vans that we use. We usually dont put anything in the back of the RWD Aerostar and it does pretty good...but could use 150# or so back there. The Windstar is Front wheel drive, so we just let the traction control do its thing.
last winter I threw in 800 lbs. that is a little overkill. It kept me from throwing rocks at peoples windshields though. I don't like the look of mudflaps. The low profile ones look good but they break so easily its hardly worth the investment.
I gotta get some weight in the back, 'coz right now I dont have any traction unless its hauling some tools and ladder...but its not loaded w/heavy tools that often...So I need some weight on a regular basis.
I dont use the tool box (its for sale).. but need to get around in the bed, so I was going to use large square cement patio slabs so I can crawl over them to get to the back. - Sounds Ok....
