I'll probably end up throwing the 4 wheeler back there this year for a while. When there gets to be to much snow on the 4 wheeler, about 300 pounds of sand will go in.
I haul my 4 wheeler around sometimes also
But thats only if Im giong out of town.
That way If I get stranded I can unload it and go elsewhere to find shelter and such
Well, I used to put about 250 in the bed.
Now I just put my butt in the seat, that's plenty of weight right there.
Seriously, I just left the bed full of snow from the 18" we got this weekend. No longer a problem. Once it warms up, or the roads are clear, I'll shovel it out, and get my gas mileage back.
And, just in case we get an ice storm, the sandbags are still in the garage, if I need them.
But, I've never got it stuck yet, still trying, though.
Weather gets bad - like its looking like today (rain changing to ICE & sleet changing to 4" to 8" snow) I throw a shovel, 50#s of log chain and 280#s of sand. If I'm going some where that I know the roads are questionable I toss the tire chains in too for good luck. Haven't been stuck so bad that I need help in years.
We are expecting snow tonight so I stopped and put about 30 gallons of diesel in the tank. I figure that adds a couple hundred pounds or so. Looking back, I think a sandbag would have been cheaper!!
