How are you all accessing the headlight harness on Platinum Powerstoke models? Between the battery bracket and the connector being so low down, it’s almost impossible. I’ve noticed every video on YouTube skips over this or is for a 6.8 with plenty of room, or the headlight is sitting on a table, or they remove the entire grill.
Are you going in through the wheel well liner? Even removing the battery doesn’t help as the entire battery bracket is in the way.
I echo this problem. I have a 2024 Plat 6.7 HO and have the lighted Ford Emblem for the front. I have yet to install simply because I cannot see the damn harness on the driver's side headlight. Removing the grill, although easy enough, is also going to be a touchy ordeal because of the damn clips on plastic posts they use to affix the grill into the headlight. The grills on the 2021 and earlier were such a breeze to remove. Anyhow, if anyone has any tips on this or "gotcha's" to avoid, I'd sure appreciate it!
On my 2024 F250 KR, I just removed the air filter box and the headlight plug was right there.
Thanks, I had all wires ran to the drivers side. I found the best choice to be removing half the wheel well liner screws and folding it out of the way. Then pull back the red clip and press to release. It’s still not easy, it’s a tight space, but doable.
Now the issue is the headlight accessory adapter isn’t working. The LED accessory just flashes once. Then I saw that 2023+ Super Duty trucks, the factory LED headlight circuits are BCM-controlled and pulse-width modulated (PWM). That means the line you tapped for “parking/running light” isn’t a constant 12V source. Instead, it sends a brief initialization pulse when the parking/running lights are switched on, then it stops or drops to a non-usable duty cycle.
If this is correct, then no plug and play headlight accessory harnesses work?
Edit: do not buy from f150leds.com that’s the answer here.
They have now confirmed, after saying with 100% certainty their harness would work for the strip lights, that it will not.
This is of course after already siliconing it to the truck, with the wires going towards the hood, and running everything correctly.
I have text messages of everything where I explicitly stated I did not want to cut into the harness below the kick plate nor did I trust scotchlok connectors.
They refuse to acknowledge they stated this would work and now say I was provided instructions to splice below the kick plate and that’s all they support go pound sand. I asked point blank did you not say this would work in writing? They responded “we provided instructions for the install and don’t see any emails with that information. Absolute garbage. It was sent over text which I screenshotted back to those liars and they refuse to acknowledge providing this information.
Not only that, their connectors are always low quality shoddy.
i realize this sounds petty, but honestly, companies should not get away with this.
Invest the money in better quality brands if your time is valuable to you. While their products “work” they are bargain basement LEDs, instructions and support.
Now I’m just trying to find the best easy to access 12v switched line under the hood beer the drivers side headlight. But I’m thinking if need be I could just run the lines to the under hood fuse box. Any recommendations for a 12v switched there?
