power for trans controller and gauges

I am putting a mechanical diesel engine with a 6r80 trans in my 1992 e250 5.8.

the 6r80 has a standalone transmission controller that needs power during start, run and while cranking.

are there any accessory power feeds that give 12v while the engine is cranking?

also, I have a few other accessories that need 12v including gauges and a few switches, any advice where to get power for those?

is the main light switch a good source for power to gauge lighting?

I have been looking at wiring diagrams etc. but I wanted to check if anyone on here has been through this before and has advice.

thanks
Mitch

I am thinking the 12v feed and ground to the original ecu could be run back into the cab and used for the transmission controller.

See the power distribution wiring diagram attached...

Looks like the only circuit that's hot in START only is terminal ST of the ignition switch (circuit arrow "S") on page 13-7. Where that circuit goes depends on the original vehicle configuration (see page 13-13).

Note that this circuit appears to be fed from fuse "G" on page 13-3 which is 60 AMPS! You may want to add additional fusing for your use.

reading some diagrams from charm.li it looks like fuse 7 in the interior fuse panel is hot in start and run. i would assume it travels from the ignition switch and activates the eec relay and some other components.

i found a single red 12v ign source hanging under the interior fuse panel I can use for my gauge power.

now I just need to figure out how to access the dimmed wire from the headlight switch to the dash lighting.
EDIT: seems to be fuse 13 in the interior panel

I read the line in your original post that said "are there any accessory power feeds that give 12v while the engine is cranking?" and thought you needed a circuit that was hot in start ONLY...

I agree that F13 should be the dimmed instrument lighting circuit.

Looks to me like both F7 & F18 should be hot in start or run.
