Does anybody know if this "Valve Guide Lifter Retainer" was availiable anywhere to buy. I was tearing this 7.3 down to reseal and clean everything and noticed a couple small holes in it. Appreciate y'all
Be sure to remember which way the "dimples" in the lifter guides face, up or down before you take it apart. No pictures of them show which way and I was stumped. Finally found a pic of a 302 and put them in that way. Hopefully someone that knows can chime in here on which way the go in.
Thanks for the link. Yes, rusted. The motor had been sitting awhile when we got it. This part it the only one that looks to be damaged. We do have a sandblaster. I might be able to repair it possibly. Thanks, Brannon

Yes i noticed that,,DImples up...I figured otherwise they would hold oil ...
You MAW sandblast the retainer and see how extensive the damage is. It looks like it may be ok with some sandblasting and some heavy duty paint. After all, it's not a connecting rod cap or timing gear.
