Broken Valve Lifter?`

Alrighty, so I just broke a piece of the valve lifter yesterday. However it does not seem that important, it looks like just a piece that helps guide the pushrods in when first installation occurs? Can I get away without buying a new one? They are kinda pricey in my area.

I guess they are just an aid for installation and are not necessary. Here is a post I found on them.
