If you have the 130 or 160 amp alternator, chances are you have the tensioner with the damper on it. I could not obtain one and had to jump thru hopes and get one from a year newer model. So far it has worked for a couple hundred miles. Changing to a lesser amp alternator may help the tensioner survive a bit better. I had to go up to 93 year parts to get the correct enclosed spring tensioner. The open ones will not fit.
I have this Damping Tensioner On my 93 7.3 idi ... Question is Will a Stock 1993 Tensioner with the inclosed Spring Work ON my Van .....i know the Dampener was a Recall but Will the Available Replacement WORK ? Belt Size im Sure Changes......i say this cause i believe mine is Weak and Belt keeps Squealing
I have had the none dampened tensioner on mine since last spring. The bolt that holds it on is different. I made a sleeve and used the old bolt and it has held up. Not my idea of a great fix, but all I had short of going and finding just the right length and diameter bolt. Maybe someone has done it and knows just what bolt to get? Worth a question in the forum.

So ......if I where to Go With The Non Dampner Tensioner the Bolt to Bolt to the Block Is Different? I really appears so similar..... Anyway wondering if I could just try to find a shorter fan belt by a quarter of an inch to see if that helps with the Squealing. I know when I use the 3/8 drive ratchet last time I unloaded the tensioner..... It felt plenty strong...lol .... wrong tool for the job always helps lol.......and Did U Swap Out Tensioners from Dampening to NONE Dampening ?
Yes I did. Works fine so far. I think if you have tension a shorter belt may work for you. Mine was broken on the back of the spring housing. A stupid little pot metal nub that sheared off. Other then that it is fine. Still have it.
can anyone refer me to an alternator for the 92 f250 dual v belt system I've been on an endless quest trying to find one and nothing has come up besides part numbers that don't exist anymore.
I have a 93 with the Dampner wondering if U had the same and just went to the Stock original one with enclosed spring and Replaced.... Constant squeaky belt issues and I'm a little concerned with the tensioners strength. Obviously I can't find another one. Thanks
Hey all, new to this forum. I just picked up an 88 f250 in great condition. The Tailgate is a little beat up and I'm looking for a new plastic panel strip. I've only been able to find one but it was $180, so I'm wondering if anyone knows about cheaper options out there.
Wanted : V Belt Pulleys, Alt Bracket, Cleaner Steel
Hi, I'm looking for a few parts.
This is for someone that has swapped out V belts for serpentine, and or installed a turbo.
Someone may have done some upgrades or has a blown motor and might no longer have a use for these parts.
I'm about to upgrade to dual alternators, and need these brackets and pulley.
I have only ever seen one IDI ever in a junkyard, so please if you have these and are feeling generous,.
I would like to ask that I pay for shipping and up to a small cost, but please if you have and don't need for sure, and could send them at a small cost please.
This is a budget upgrade, I will be sourcing everything else from the JY, but they probably won't have these parts that are needed.
When I get everything all together, I'll do a writeup and post on the dual alternator upgrade.
Then I'll later be doing Windstar fans, and other heavier electronics,
Just gotta suss out the generators portion first B4 power adders.
I am looking for :
3 rib V belt water pump pulley..
Alternator pivot bracket..
IDI V belt alternator pulley..
Air Cleaner Metal Rectangular portion, the big round air cleaner can be cut off, or drilled or chiseled off the main part.
just the smaller rectangular portion is needed, it will be for passing through and bolting to the firewall, for air intake relocation, forced induction and deep water Fording.
And the plastic "remove when Fording" accordian intake tubing.
Maybe someone built up several motors and has these parts unneeded and laying around -
i have never seen a dual alternator IDI. maybe look for an ambulance setup?
all the ones i have seen had Leece Neville alternator, but there may be some dual alternator setups out there.
