Spark Plug inspection
'77 Dent F-150 4x2 original trailer special.
Yesterday drove 65 miles round trip to a cruise-in/show. mostly 2 lane backroads, steady 2300 revs. A/FR was 15-15.5 hot at level cruise with 19+ in Hg.
No complaints.
So this morning I decided to pull a couple of plugs to see what I could see. Plugs are ARF (ASF?) 42 all copper basic plugs, gapped to .050 (oh, I have converted my non-CA Duraspark blue module to a red, along with bypassing the ballast resistor wire and running the special motocraft DG-316 hot coil). Plugs have been in service just shy of 2 years, and seen about 1350 miles.
Here's #5:

And heres #4--chosen because opposite bank, opposite intake plane/side of carb, and aft cyl vs. fwd.
noted: the body of the plug inside the cyl was a little wet, and smelled of raw fuel when I pulled it.
so, I decided to go one more and pull #6 (same plane of manifold) and compare.

Plug #6 (no gas smell):
Overall, I don't see anything too surprising/alarming. Maybe #4 the intake valve was open all night? maybe my somewhat hardened valve guide rubber seals (I replaced cyl #1 only about a year ago just to see how crusty they were--it could pinch between my fingers without breaking) are seeping a bit? but I did also take note of the "burn line" on the (grounding) electrode. It is for sure past the corner. Too much total timing?
Mostly it was just a health check with emphasis on reading the "burn line". I suppose if i don't get part throttle load detonation, it's not too much timing.
