Hi! I am still struggling with my driver side parking brake.
It works just fine on the passenger side. Service brakes are good. I checked cables from the front to the equalizer and both cables to the wheels. Lubed the equalizer and adjusted the brake shoes. I have some movement on the parking brake lever (2104) and link (2108) but not enough. It feels like the lever is too far in against the carrier and got seized somehow. I know it could be a challenge to understand my english but I would appreciate suggestions from you a lot. For now it's not a big deal with a one wheel parking brake but next year we probably going to have inspections for our old trucks so I would like to fix it this year. Thanks!!! Mats Nilsson, Sweden
From your pictures it appears you are either missing parts or something is not connected properly. The parking brake link cross bar should connect to both shoes from the lever, which is pulled by the cable. The lever is attached to the shoe at the top, and when the cable is pulled, it pulls on the lever which pushes the primary shoe outward against the drum, cantilevering the secondary shoe also against the drum. I don't see your cross link at the lever.
Thanks a lot for a very good description! Yes, I think something is missing and I tried to pull the drum on the other side to compare but had some problems. I will try again next week when I get home from a job. The lever and link are all there but are black and are difficult to see in my pictures. ( I will attach a marked picture) When I see your drawing I think it looks like
my link is not connected properly at the same side as the lever. On the other side it"s connected to the brake shoe with a link spring.(2139) Thanks!!!!

It looks like the parking brake lever is missing the retaining clip and a washer, they should be seen in the hole in the shoe above the spring on the right hand side of your photos #1 & 2. Retainer #2106 , washer #2132 in the first image. They can be seen in the mirror image 52Merc posted.

Yes, you are completely right! I am going to disassemble
everything and start all over next week. That's probably why the lever is low and too far in. Thanks a lot both of you for explaining!!! Is it possible to find new parking brake lever and link if I need one or is used parts my only option?

New parts should be available. They are Bendix brakes. Be aware that many parts look similar and you'll want to be sure what you get is really for your application. Different size brakes have different size levers and links. Here's another picture I found that may make it easier to see what you need.

A very nice picture of brakes in excellent condition!
If I need new parts I am going to check exactly what I need before I order. Drums are 11" and shoes 11 x 1 3/4.
I have never seen Levers for my truck but hopefully I dont need one.
Thanks a lot, your help is very much appreciated!!!

Here is some new feedback. I was expecting my parking brake repair as a winter project with searching for new parts but thanks to your advise problem is already solved.
Some PO made his own retaining clip for the parking brake lever but probably didn't made it tight enough. The clip came loose and lever fell down about 1" and of course didn't work properly. So all I need to fix it is a new clip!!! Thanks a lot!!!!

Glad you had a simple fix. Is that the new clip in the last photo? After I put the clip in place, I take a pair of pliers and bend the ends in together just a little bit to keep it in place. It doesn't need much of a bend to work.

Thanks, I will do the same and bend mine just a little. I had to use the old homemade clip just to check everything and adjust the shoes but I have ordered 2 new. Thanks a lot!!!!!
