Power roof

My 06 has a roof- nothing i wanted. I did try to keep grease on it where I could see. I recently had the head liner down to recover. First time I tried it, something popped. It seems like it was pretty self contained. There are two rods on either side , about 1/16" that are there when you open the shade now disconnected. Do i stand a chance? I can't get it closed and will drop the headliner and see what i can do to close it..

CON'T

So i got the headliner down and I'm sure you smart folks knew i would still not be able to do any more with it. I looked online and there are ford repair kits all over- if you look at the kit, the two parts with the long rods- what ever they snapped into is broken.
I'm reading set up of the redo can be a pain- the timing of the motor on the track so it closes fully and square- any tips on that?

My '07 has it too, but I haven't opened it in years, nor am I likely to now. Sorry, I know is no help.

I replaced mine on my '12 F250 , but they are all the same. Getting track assy in and out is the hardest part, the instructions are simple for setting the "timing" on the track. I found final adjustment of the roof itself when closed is hard. I gave up on mine and it whistles a little in the right conditions.

Update

I got it all out- but the part the cables go through is broken. I'm going to glue/rivet it best i can and hope. If I get it back up and closed i will pull the plug on the switch!

Update: so, when the parts in the track broke, and dumb a#$ me keeps working the motor I've attached images of the brake. I should have snapped earlier. This section is the weakest part of the track. As I kept diving the roof closed the motor kept feeding the cable and when it jammed it snaked up and broke that section.

I've considered a couple of ways to put this back together. I'm sure I'm ADT but I like crap to work, even if I don't use it. Sickness, I know. I have a boat we can talk about too.
I've tacked in the large part with JB. I will do the same with the other part. I realize this will not hold it. I want to keep it intact long enough to encapsulate them with some sheet metal so while they I'm sure will brake, they won't go anywhere and will still be a cable guide.
