Just got an '01 SD F250; it appears to me the grill needs something to protect the radiator; those lower openings are huge.
Does anyone make a screen to place behind the grill (and still get plenty air flow) without going to a "ranch guard" setup?
If you are looking for "screens", there is a product called a "screen front", I think it's made by "Lund" (but I'm not sure).
Do a search for "screen front", and "Lund". I'm pretty sure you'll find what you're looking for.
Just go to the Hardware store and get some Fibreglass Window Screen and pick up a bag of Wire ties. I removed the Grille and installed it to the front of the Radiator/Condensor combo. I have done that on my SuperDuty and every other vehicle I own. In Colorado we have a BIG problem with Rocks in the Radiator. It Works!
I have used a stull billett grille in both my 99 and my 00
they look good and also protect the rad etc
I have not noticed any higher operating temps either
I learned the hard way about the big openings from the factory when my 99 was 3 weeks old , a branch blew out in front of me and the littler branches ended up thru my ac condenser total repair bill was 800
used the screen from local store heavy fiberglass screen and tie wraps grill comes off with 5 screws and attached it to the back Done.
One stone made it through but never made it to the radiator and intercooler, new screen 12 bucks tie wraps 2 bucks. Alaska was beautiful.
