Adjustable pedal question

Has anybody had to work on these adjustable pedals in their truck? I just got one and the pedals are uneven and just downright irritating. I figured out that if I can disconnect one end of the drive cable that goes between the two pedals then I can adjust the brake pedal independently. The problem is I can't figure out for the life of me how to disconnect the cable on either end. If anybody has any experience with these things or knows how to get this cable disconnected, I'm all ears.

Can you be a little more specific of what you're working on? make model year, trim, etc... the more info you provide the less people have to guess at helping you.

2002 Lincoln Navigator. Though it's the same adjustable pedal assembly that Ford used in the 10th gen F-series, 1st gen Expedition, and 1st gen Navigator across the board.

My adjustable controls have not worked since I got the truck. Mine are all the way forward and I've been wanting to move them back all the way and just leave it. Anyway, to the point... I did a search online in this forum and a couple others and found there is quite a bit of info on troubleshooting them. I'd start there...
