With the help of posts by NumberDummy and others i was able to track down what I'm told is the original accelerator cable for my 65 F100 with a 300, part number C5TZ-9A758-AG. However when I try to install it there is no "ball" (same as on the carburetor end of the cable) on the accelerator pedal arm for the cable to connect to. Do i have the wrong cable or is something wrong/missing from my accelerator pedal arm? With my luck so far with this truck either is possible.
Below is picture of the end of my accelerator pedal arm with the universal accelerator cable the PO installed, and the end of the "C5TZ-9A758-AG" cable.
I'm not completely familiar with the cable type set-up, but looks like you need a ball stud on each end.
Something like this: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qft-28-100qft
A search on the forum might find part numbers for a correct restoration, if that's what you're looking for.
I have a cable similar to that. I could not not use the stock cable on mine, so I went with a "Universal Hot Rod Cable."
If you use that cable, firstly, you need to make sure the clevis at the pedal end is a straight pull, and not at a right angle like in the picture. I had to file the flange of that end of the pedal arm so it could turn freely. It's the corners. If it pulls the cable as shown in the photo, the cable will break in a short time.
To use the stock cable with the ball clevis, all you need is the ball stud to screw into that hole where the pin goes through. You can get those at well stocked auto parts stores. I even saw 'em at Auto Zone.
