Have a 2022 F250 with a RetraxPRO XR installed on it. We have had it installed for about 2 years now and it has always leaked enough that I won't store anything in the bed if expecting any significant rain due to the leaking. While I appreciate the security it provides, I am a bit frustrated that I can't store anything that isn't waterproof in it.
Is this the norm with this particular unit installed is fairly simple, but everytime it rains it is fairly wet inside the bed. My previous truck had a different manufacturer for the tonneau cover (name escapes me) but a small amount of water would leak in but only at tailgate.
I am wondering if it just isn't installed properly.
Same cover on mine. It leaks a little around the tailgate and under canister, drain tubes are not installed. Bed floor is covered by horse stall mat... any water that does leak in collects under the mat and drains out.
I've had one for 4 years. Always leaks around tail gate. I have a mat in my bed so the water goes under it. If I put something more to the front I have not had a problem with water getting to it. I have the drains hooked up but I think they are clogged. Another problem with the roll tops, if you have debris on the cover and roll it up it all goes into the cassette. I don't know if they are cleanable.
I have a Roll n Lock. Every so often or when I remember I unfasten the lid and clean out the cassette. try to do it on an incline and drive over something under one side of the truck so the debris collects to one corner.
Yeah i do have drain tubes installed but they are likely clogged since on rainy days if i put in cover and back out it brings a ton of water around them. I'll climb in there and try and clean out the drains. Yeah it leaks the most at the tailgate and the passenger side near the tailgate the most.
I had the roll n lock on my previous truck and it leaked a bit at tailgate but nothing like what the Retrax does IMHO..
If you can’t get support from distributor and there are no forum quick fixes….the best thing to do is store stuff in totes in the bed under the leaky cover or if the leak is localized ( leaks at tail gate but no where else …you can elevate your stuff with these Home Depot mats and it will keep your stuff dry as the water drains from back to front.
