This is a specimen from my neighborhood. I have tried to crop as much out as possible, as it woud be just my luck the guy is on here and I just pissed them off, but I really want to know the point. I mean, I figure from the lift alone, the ability to tow anything over 5 tons is probably gone, and the overall payload capability is probably somewhere around half, but it seems like an awful lot of money to basically throw away....

Looks like a pavement princess that never or rarely tows or gets loaded down, you know, truck stuff. It's an "I will do what I want with the money I made kind of thing" To each their own. At least he's not a brain dead squatter. lol

I have actually seen it get driven at least once, other than that, I think Driveway Princess is probably a more apt description.

There's lots of cosmetic mods that don't meet my own taste, but hey it's not my money. I don't even like the blacked-out look that seems to be wildly popular. Don't like black wheels. Dude isn't hurting anyone, and hopefully the truck brings him joy every time he walks up to it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

This isn't my thing, but as long as they drive reasonably while around me and those I care for, Whatever I don't care.

There seem to be a lot of jackwagons that do this to their trucks then have to prove to everyone how much better/cooler/faster/assh0leier they are. I don't care for them very much.

The OP should ask themselves what do they do that could bring similar complaint from others? For me it's posting silly "questions" here asking "why ?" when its no matter or concern to anyone else. IMHO anyway............

try doing that here, and it is a very expensive ticket with vehicle impounded.
and it will not be released from impound until tires that are under the fenders are put back on.
it is a safety hazard and dangerous driving around with exposed tires.

There is that. I was answering as if I has asked the OP's question . . . with my bone-stock F-350 that does just fine without all the mods. The few that I've talked to seem to be centered around aesthetics on the surface, and ego when the question digs deep enough, but my dataset isn't remotely comprehensive.

Maybe OP is hoping there's more to it than aesthetics and maybe ego . . . like if we came back and said "Yeah the wide tires spread the weight of the vehicle out to help to keep from sinking in deep sand, and the lift allows easier traversal through large snow drifts" or maybe "Vehicles with these types of modifications are generally converted after an exhaustive study of the manufacturer's engineering and design, and serve to correct flaws and shortcomings in said engineering and design in order to make the truck safer and better for all mankind", but so far I haven't seen anything like that here in the responses.

Wow! So they require people to enter the lot and change the tires before they can get it back?

Wow! That's amazing!

I can't imagine all if the liability contortions everyone must go through to have Joe/Jane Yahoo Average with Walmart tools changing four tires in an impound lot!

I love looking at lifted and modded trucks though I'd never modify my own in that manner. To me, a truck is built to perform it's best bone stock.
