Help with front cowl removal
Meaning drill out 100 tack welds and scrape apart the seam sealer on the inside and the whole cowl should come off with the door pillar intact? Any other helpful tips?
this is a 49 not sure if the door jam is separate from the cowl on your truck
i bought the patch panel and used about half
and yes get a couple spot weld bits
you can see a few places where i drilled out welds
i found that it was cheaper to use another cab for parts
I had a little bit of rust there too..
Some other places too..
If you're going to change out the complete side cowl you'll have to drill out all the spot welds
for easier access to the spot welds at the top it's much easier to access them this way.
The inner cowl / fender bracket looks as though it's in fairly good condition and is spot welded to the lower hinge bracket and also to the cowl itself . It would likely be better to preserve that bracket if it isn't completely rotted away at the bottom. The after market brackets are not as accurately shaped as the originals from the experience I've had on the three I've worked on..
