2014 F250 with a 6.2. Does anybody know there is a common reason that it will not crank? Power to the starter, battery good, relay good. However some messages come up on the dash when attempting to start the truck as well as check engine light.

What are the messages? Is your gear indicator orange and showing either P or N?
The messages are a variety, and it was also put in neutral and attempted to start as well. Will be replacing the starter tomorrow. I am asking on behalf of my Son-in-law so I don't have the vehicle to review myself.
If the PCM doesn't know that the trans is in either park or neutral, it won't allow the engine to crank. If there isn't any indication of the gear, it could be a bad transmission range sensor. Does he have any way to read codes and see live data?
Yes, he has a reader but it was not showing any codes. I will be going to his place this weekend and will bring my scanner and try it.
Thanks.
Ok, also there's a connector that should be clipped to the inboard side of the battery tray that has a single wire in it. It should be a 12 ga brown wire with a green tracer. I know this is the case for 2011 and 2012. The male side of that connector should go directly to the starter solenoid. Verify that it does go to the starter before doing this, but applying +12v to that wire should engage the starter. If it works, the starter is good and further troubleshooting is needed.
