I know 18” wheels are smoother than 37” wheels, but how much smoother on a 37” tire? Is it worth getting rid of my 20” for an 18”? I want to change the look of my truck, but I don’t think I want an aftermarket wheel like a Method or KMC. I want to keep the tucked/flush look which is why I’m thinking factory wheels.
I had factory 18's on my 2017 and had them powdercoated in a bronze color. I too like the factory stance with the wheels. I had 35's on my 2017 18" wheels and they looked very good, beefy. Personally, I don't think I'd like 37's on 18's - I think it would feel pretty 'squishy' if that makes sense. There's allot of sidewall on a 37" tire with an 18" wheel. I think 20" wheels and 37" tires is the way to go.
Not 18's, but one of my friends has 37s on 17s (green truck) and this is what that aspect looks like on a RAM. My silver truck has 33s on 17s for comparison.

I swapped the stock 17" steel wheels for a set of Ford 18's... the same rims on my 2023 STX... the day I brought it home. I don't do oversize tires, but the right tire will make it look better. Both of my trucks have Coopers on them...
2WD 2025...
The look of the tire can make a big difference...
This is my 2025 when it had those garbage Bridgestone Duelers on it... I thought it looked horrible, and I was ready to replace the wheels...
But all it took was the right tire...
(I just realized, I don't have a picture of the truck with the new tires... )
I think the 18's ride better than either the 17's or the 20's... and tires are certainly less expensive than 20"
with 37" tires on 20s you are still getting 8.5 inch of sidewall, that's more than enough cushion in my book. If you do exclusively offroad I would consider the 18s but otherwise nothing wrong with 20s you already got.
I went from 20” wheels with 37s to 18” wheels with 37s.
There’s a noticeable difference in ride quality (better with the 18” wheels for sure). I will never switch back to 20s again. Plus the 18s look so much better with the tire in my opinion.
As far as trends go, I think the smaller wheels are making a comeback. Maybe this is due to the popularity of some of the factory off road offerings like the Raptor, RHO, Rebel, etc. Maybe its that the low aspect tire thing has gotten a bit ridicules - as we all know that the rubber band mud tires never make it off road.
