Has anyone had an issue with installing the under hood Motorcraft FD-4615 fuel filter canister? Mine would not drop in all the way, the last inch and a half was to large , I had to grind it down with a drum sander on the drill press! We have a 2014-350 SD with the 6.7 diesel! Any help would be appreciated!!!☮️✌🏻
I had this the last time too and needed to grind down the casting marks - I wasn’t happy. I buy filters directly from rockauto so I’m sure it’s not a counterfeit.
Where did you buy it?
I’ve had it on the shelf for maybe a year or more, don’t remember where I bought it! I looked on our Amazon account but it wasn’t purchased from them.
I did some research online and it appears to be a counterfeit🤬 so I’m getting one from Rockauto tomorrow, being a counterfeit I don’t trust what’s inside!
I’ll update my post when I receive it!!! Thanks for your reply!

Received the new filter kit, I changed both filters, the canister fit right in!!! When I get a chance I’m going to cut the canister’s open and see if there is a difference between them, I’ll post results when that happens! What I did notice is on the OEM the numbers on the lid were done very professional like a hot stamp the knockoff was hardly stamped at all!!!
Yes was trying to install top canister first!!!
I just cut them open this morning and other than the canister being oversized everything else including all numbers looked identical to old filter assembly!!!🤬🤬
The last one I got was like this, it is a Motorcraft that I picked up at Oreilly’s, so I doubt it’s a counterfeit. I absolutely could not get it to latch into the filter holder.

I ended up running it. It was only sticking up maybe a half an inch and with the friction fit it is definitely not going anywhere. The old one would easily latch in, so not operator error.

same here, it just sticks up slightly, but I’ll be changing it out earlier than normal, hopefully the next one fits better.
