Generator is finished up. New field coils, bushing, bearing, brushes, and springs. First time I have changed field coils, not bad using the press and my breaker bar. Starter is next.

Were the field coils bad, or are you converting to 12v?

the generator was in bad shape when I started. I had to take the field coils out to sand blast the case. When I did they came apart, the wrapping was coming apart. Decided to start with known good coils.

Tested the starter armature and it passed all tests: bar to shaft, 180 bar, and bar to bar. Got to finally use my armature cutter. It took a few minutes to figure it out since it didn’t have any instructions, but once I figured out the settings it actually cut pretty easy. Giving my paint on the case one more day to cure before I assemble it.

Got the engine finished up. Going to be a few months before I get the exhaust from Waldrons to swap it into the 50 farm truck. Can’t wait!

Looks great!

Out of curiosity, on your oil pressure sender, on the dome, is there a indented circle with "UP" in it? I have never seen a reference to it, but 3 of mine have it. Not sure why orientation would matter, there's no drain hole I can see.

For the oil pressure sender, I know that the GP Sorensen PS-45 units had "U↑P" stamped on them. King-Seeley units could have the the letters KS in a circle.

It does seem odd though as the units were mounted threaded fitting down, wire terminal up, for much of the 41A-9278 applications and no part number change for when the were mounted in a way where "UP" would have made sense.

I tried a NoS oil sender it was dead out the box. I see you have used no major repro parts on the outside, except maybe the fuel pump and carb?

I’m curious why you chose the later style accessories, like the oil filter and oil bath air cleaner, they look like 8RT versions from. 51 -52? Do you just like them better?

I see you’re also running the HD fan blade as well. Do you find it any noisier?

Sorry, so many questions! I noticed that you ground off the markings on most of the accessory assembly bolt heads? Are they stainless steel or zinc bolts?

the fan isn’t noticeable to me. The bolts are mostly cad plated. The pump and the card are not repro, they are rebuilt.

Well done! I don't know much about flatheads but it looks great. Did your boys stick with the rebuild till the end?

Thanks. So you took regular steel bolts ground off the marks then cad plated them yourself?

No sir, I bought most of the bolts from 3rd gen, he has kits with the thick head cad plated bolts. I did have to plate a few bolts myself but most I bought from Michael. A few of the water pump bolts I had to plate myself. I can get pretty close with copy cad plating to the original cad plate. I think a lot of the bolts should be painted but I like the cad look.
