Has anyone else heard about this? I just seen it for the first time a few minutes ago when I was reading our local news website. An Indiana Congressman itroduced this act to try and change the dime. He wants to have Franklin D. Roosevelt's face replaced with that of Ronald Regan. He got the idea from the movie about Reagan that CBS had decided not to air. Even Nancy Reagan does not want this to happen.
What is your opinion on this? I hope they don't go through with this. Yes Reagan may have been a good President, but I think they need to honor the presidents that are a part of our history and that they must be dead for at least 50 years or so.
I DO NOT want to see the dime changed to have RR's face on it.. Im tired of this...Ronald Regan BS. A Good President.. Thats certainly open for debate. 1st they change DCA (National Airport) to RR Airport..now the dime. No way. "Tear down the wall" doesnt constitute a good president...imo.
Not to hijack the thread, but ctfuzzy, I noticed you've moved the probable site of the South's next uprising from Long Island to Saskatchewan. Won't the additional syllable and lack of silent letters create confusion among the troops? (my curiosity is derived from being raised in Texas, a period of residence in the deep south and spending years trying to make other people understand y'all wasn't a derogatory term)

Sorry . . I got . . delayed, on another thread or 20.
Tally Hassy.
Jax is three hours away (running the speed limit).

Hi George.
Waxy told me it had been moved. He even commented he was looking forward to whistling Dixie.
. . honest.
Oh, and YES you are right about the dang name of the place!! I tried to spell it two or three times when I was modifying my sig. I wound up having to go back to his post and copy and paste it into the line in my sig!
I guess the plus side is, them ^&*% Yankees will never expect us to attack from there - for sure.
No way. He just had an aircraft carrier commissioned for him. We shouldn't change the dime. The money is already changing enough as it is. What year did they say that we are going to all 1-dollar coins, instead of both? When are they going to start making the 2-dollar coins? Why are we trying to be like all other countries, making our bills colorful and changing the small bills to coins? I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been to Australia, Canada, Singapore, etc. where all their small money is coins....and I don't know about anyone else, but I personally HATE carrying change around.
Disgraceful. The only living person to have an airport, a federal building, and now an aircraft carrier named for him. How the Republicans pushed all this through is beyond me. So who's this idiot from Indiana that is sponsoring the bill? Why doesn't he propose one of our great DEAD Republican presidents, like Nixon or Hoover or Harding?

They want everyone to hate carring money around so they can put in the cashless society. No cash, no checks, just a card you carry with instant withdrawals. Then flea makets and rummage sales will need to have a machine rented from city hall to handle their transactions to which the government will be able to get their taxes.

That's exactly what I thought when they introduced the "loonie" and the "toonie".
Now, I'd never go back, everytime I go to the States and I get $1 bills I'm always annoyed. Especially when I got to a vending machine. The convience of coins for small transactions, especially machine related ones, can't be beat IMHO.
I think I actually carry less change now than before. It's convenient to pay for small items $2 or less with a coin believe it or not, and when those coins actually have some value, you don't mind carrying them. I find myself having sufficient change in most cases to avoid getting more, ie I'm not breaking larger bills all the time to pay for small items, or I can manipulate the change to get only bills in return.
I guess it's not for everyone, but like I said, I wouldn't go back.
