Coil
Has anybody relocated coil off off intake? Am running a petronix unit on y block engine, starts fine, after running for about 20 min, if I shut it off, it is hard to restart, coil is hot enough to burn you. After cooling off, starts again without problem, have 12 volts running from ignition switch to coil. Using 3 ohm coil and no resistor

Not on 57-60 pickups but I have relocated coils to both the firewall and inner fender. It won't cause any problems as long as you leave some slack in the wiring for the engine to torque over without yanking the wires out of the coil or distributor. As for whether it will cure your hot starting problem, we'll have to see.
