Simple fix?
Changed out my serpentine belt tensioner but it is sticking out.
What am I missing? It must be something simple.
The new tensioner and old tensioner seem to be identical

The tensioner pulley is sticking out a lot. The belt is only half on.

I guess it must have finally righted itself after the belt went back on. Last night it was 1/2 way off the pulley going to the rear.
Not sure why it took so long to straighten out. But it's working now.

Was going to say, they generally straighten themselves out after you run it for a moment
BTW that idler pulley is convex shaped for a reason, to self-align the belt

I'd be taking the tensioner back off, and comparing it real close with the original.
Definitely not right.

I'll do that and post pics. I did compare them side by side and they were identical in every way I could see. Same offset, same everything. Got it from oreillys and it is a well rated part for a 351W.

Did you get the little tit on the tensioner in the little hole in the bracket?

WHen you put the tensioner back on, the protrusion on the block must fit into the tensioner.

And here is the protrusion.
Little bit of a puzzle, only fits one way.
