I have a F350 super duty with factory installed Brake controller with the 7 Pin connection for trailer connection . I have no indication on the dash that there is an issue with the controller / Have checked the relays and all fuses and i have a constant 12VDC at Pin 2 Brakes . Is this a Faulty factory installed Controller issue ? I highly doubt that it could be a wiring issue as i have only 48,000 miles on theis truck and is well taken care of .
Can anyone suggest how to isolate the controler to test it ?
What year truck? I remember reading somewhere that the controller send voltage to detect if there is a trailer connected. Is there any issues with the controller of hooked to a trailer?
Year of the Truck is 2015 F350XLT. I understand what your saying but i should not have 12VDC all the time between pis 1 ( GRND ) and 2 ( Brake to trailer ) and since it is a factory installed controller i have no idea where to take it from there. The Trailer has been checked and brakes are operational / so i assume that since i have a constant 12VDC on those pins it is in either the factory installed controller or one of the relays . I don't have indication on the dash that it is a relay and the trailer shows when connected and when its not
I don't know the particulars on the diagnosis of the system. If you have 12v on the terminal do you get 12v at the trailer brakes that activates them? It would seem the brakes would be applied constantly. I've never had a truck with a factory controller, only factory wiring with an add on box. If it was my truck I would be tempted to put an aftermarket box on it and ride.
