460 running woes
New on here, looking for help with my 1984 carbureted 460 motorhome.
Just replaced both electric in-tank fuel pumps, and fule filter. Inspected all the insides of the hoses. Started great. Idled great. I take off test driving and the motor runs strong then after a few minutes, it starts running like its running out of fuel and die. It would start right back up, but I couldn't touch the throttle or it would die. That's when I replaced the selector valve and another fuel filter. Again, started great. Idled great. I take off test driving and the motor runs strong then after a few minutes, it starts running like its running out of fuel and dies. When it would do this, I would pull over and it would restart and it would idle fine. but i could not even touch the throttle or it would start stumbling and die, if I didn't get off the throttle quick enough! At first, I could pat it and get it back home. Last time, pulling up to the house it stalled and would not restart. Next morning, I hit it with a shot of starting fluid and it started and ran fine, At least long enough to pull it the rest of the way up the driveway. It has idles fine since but have been afraid to take it back on the road until i got some ideas of things to look for or check.
I hope this is a decent description of what the engine is doing.
Any ideas or suggestions? All help greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
