Sorry if this is in the wrong area for starters.
I have a Clark285VHD with a long input shaft that I was trying to swap into a 1978 F700 that originally has a Clark 285V33 (locked up due to previous owner ignorance/stupidity) that has a short length input shaft. Before I go through the effort of trying to source a local transmission rebuilder I was wondering if they make input shafts that are shorter for the 285VHD so i could swap it in easier, or if anyone knows if i could directly swap a 285v33 input shaft directly on a 285VHD.
Also when measuring the input shaft length to order I just measure overall length of the shaft right? just front tip all the way to the back of the gear correct?
First time working in depth with transmissions for sorry if these are basic questions.
If you're still looking, try comparing the various input shafts from the 280V series vs. the 280VHD series. Here are some relevant part numbers and dimensions. Hope that helps.
