1985 F-350 460 4spd. When I turn my steering wheel even a little bit something is making this awful screeching sound that is insanely loud, I replaced my power steering pump and lines but that did not fix it. Is it the steering gear? When im in 3rd its loud but when im in 2nd you can probably hear it from blocks away. If i keep the wheel dead straight it makes no sound but even turning it barely at all it screams.
I would start with the belt but look them all over.
How did you bleed the air out of the system when you replaced the pump and hoses?
How long since you replaced them?
What did you use for fluid PS fluid or ATF and what kind as there are different kinds.

Just a thought if it makes the sound at idle take a little water in a spray bottle and spray the PS belt and see if the sound goes away.
You can spray the other belts 1 at a time to see if it is one of them too.
If it is a belt it may go away for a bit or change the sound pointing to the belt and not the pump.

Had sorta the same issue with my steering but not nearly that bad. Swapped out the belt and it went away. As the new belt stretched it began to get noisy again so i just need to extend on the bracket periodically to keep it tight.
There is something checking the amount of flex in the belt. You check it by pushing down in the center of the belt between the pulleys, I think there should be 1/4 to3/8 inch of movement... ? If there's more, tighten the belt.

Side play will vary by belt location, distance between pulleys.. it's best to look up that information for the specific engine and pulley. You don't want to overtighten a belt.
Also as belts age they harden and crack. In this condition they should be replaced ASAP as they can wear out v-belt pulleys by abrasion. Not to mention fail and leave you stranded.
