When my '01 250 is running, there is a buzzing hum from the dashboard. It's not terribly loud, not loud enough to be noticeable over music but if I have the radio off I can hear it. The noise rises in pitch when engine RPMs increase, and it gets louder when the steering wheel is turned. Any idea what it might be? I haven't yet experienced any tangible effects from this, but I'd very much like to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem. My first thought is something related to power steering, but I don't know enough to say. Thanks for any help.
Is it like this? This is mine and I can't figure out what it is. Its very faint. Its a high pitched buzzing tone. Mine does not seem to be affected by RPMs thought. It also doesnt change if I turn the steering wheel, but I can hear it differently if I move my head side to side, perhaps this is replicated by when you turn the steering wheel.
A/Ox4: No, your sound doesn't sound like my sound. Doesn't share the same pitch or timbre. I would call yours more of a whine. Mine sounds almost akin to a quieter, lower pitched version of a remote controlled car.
Timmyboy76: I think it may have been rainy/wet when I first noticed it. I can still hear it (it may have even grown incrementally louder, but it's difficult to tell) and it's been dry for several days, however.
