Fuel pump problem

1989 f150 inline 6 cyl. The fuel pump on frame rail will not shut off when the engine is turned off... HAve to pull battery cable off to stop pump from running... Thanks for the help!!! THe hunter

It maybe the fuel relay sticking, when you put the battery cable back on listen for it to click.

Just an idea to kick around.

My fuel pump relay in my 88 F-250 would stick, causing the pump to run after shutting the engine down. Until I was able to replace the relay I took the advice of someone on this site and would give the relay box a smack to shut the pump off. Worked for me.

I was told that it was behind the battery.. might check Auto Zone for location of the part... Or to see what it looks like so it can be identified... Lot of good info on their web site....
