1990 E350 7.5l E4OD compatibility help

Hello everyone,
New to the forum, I tried the search function and nothing came up. I have a 90 E350, the vin says the original transmission was the C6. It has an E4OD with OD button on the dash. The current E4OD needs replacement. I've been getting mixed answers from Google and a Facebook group. My question is what years of E4OD, and can I get one from an F series? My research says 89-95, but junkyards are telling me that ones from 93 and a 94 won't work with my van in their system they use. I've got a lead on a 93 E4OD from an F250 7.5l for $400. Or ordering one online for $1044 including shipping from a query match at a junkyard across the country. Thank you in advance. Really desperate here.

The VIN doesn't give transmission information.

A 1989-1996 E4OD from a two wheel drive 7.5L will work, whether it is an F or E Series. Later than '94 (I think that's the year, but it's been three decades!) will need the solenoid body and the MLPS on the side of the trans swapped.

Will I have to worry about the speed sensor being different? Just want to be extra cautious here, as I'm working with very little money. And thank you for your reply.

Worry not about the speed sensor, the E4OD has no speed sensor
Your 1990 E350 has one in the rear axle, there's not one in the E4OD trans to worry about
Research the clutch packs
Use a diesel trans to get the more clutch packs is what people do, your 7.5 may have one more friction and steel than a 5.8 trans has anyway, but the diesels do have one or two more frictions and steels

Will the diesel trans bolt to a 7.5L? I thought they were different bolt patterns.

Ah, ok. I already replaced that part. Doesn't it also have something to do with the Rear ABS also?
I'm pretty sure the bell housing has to be 7.5l.
Some of my Google results tell me they put a speed sensor in the rear of the trans after 92 some say 95. That's why I'm here. Lol Thanks.

The E4OD can have a speed sensor.
You need to verify with your vehicle if you have sensor in the trans or not. If you do, a trans without the sensor will not have the shaft gear to drive the speed sensor.

You cannot use a diesel case, that will not work, bell housing is different.
If you are rebuilding, yes, you can pull the guts out of a diesel and put it in your case, internally they are the same.

If you know and are guaranteed that the lead on the 93 E4OD from an F250 7.5l for $400, works, that is probably the best/cheapest option.

Would the speed sensor be near the speedometer cable on the rear of the transmission if it was located there?
