I have a 2002 E350 with 50,000 miles. I've replaced EVERYTHING relating to fuel and still get 6-8mpg on the highway. I drive with fuel consumption in mind. I'm at my wits end trying to solve this problem. Any suggestions. TIA
How fast are you going?
How much weight are you carrying?
6 MPG is not too bad for a loaded van with a 5.4 or 6.8 engine
Hell, an unloaded F350 truck gets 9 or 10 MPG tops
You changed everything?
How 'bout the rear end gears?
I'd swap the axle ratio to 3.55 or so (then burn up the trans if it's overloaded)
Ask the guys who haul race car trailers about gas mileage... Try 100% gas with no ethanol to see what your best mileage is. Do three or so quarter tanks to get all the ethanol gas out. That will give you the real mileage number with real gas. It may be one more MPG at best. We all cry at the pump!!! WillyB.
A 2002 Jeep grand cherokee is not the same, not even close, but running some non ethanol gas makes a very noticeable increase in milage.
3/4 of a tank boosts for several tank fulls.
4.7 HO, 545RFE transmission.
Late to the party but our 2007 E350 5.4 passenger van with 3.73 gears and 8 aboard with AC blasting at 70 mph registers 13-14 mpg on a ScanGauge II. It takes a full load and a 3000lb trailer to register 8-9 mpg. Check brakes, bearings, exhaust for restriction, fuel trims...
