i have a 2003 sd250 and would like to clear the computer of my driveng information,,, like how many times i hit the govener and if they have info stored on rpms, for they got a little high also. this happend for i am not rel happy with my 5.4 mpg it is 10 town and 12 hwy and has something like 3.75 not the 4.10 gears..... i do not always drive fast and do understand that your milage should drop if you drive hard but even if i drive slow it is the same,,, oh and the exaust pipe is always black and sooted,,, the dealer at pompano ford says that is normal and fine.
I read somewhere that you disconect the battery and turn on the headlights to kill the power left in relays and etc. Then conect the battery back after a hour(and turning off your headlights). Good luck!
thank you i will try this,,,
i do not like the dealer to tell me how i have been driving and not to fix the problem of rich mix and sooted tail pipe,,, i hope they do not tell me it is ok for sd250 5.4 3.73s 4x4 to get 10 city and 12 hwy when v10 does better......
Dropping the negative cable off the battery for 30 minutes should
clear all codes and the memory. You mention you went to Pompano
Ford... as in South FL? If so, I have a better dealer you should go
see in that area for SD truck issues... email me for details if you
want.

I am not sure that tatle-tale codes can be "reset". Codes can be recalled after an accident and I would think that by the time the vehicle is towed, the battery would have been disconected for more than an hour.
There doesn't seem to be much difference in mileage from 5.4 to 6.8. I think that a 4.30 axle in V8 will get about the same as a 3.73 with the V10. The V10 doesn't have to work as hard to push that 6500 lb truck. That and the fact that the V10 was only $600 more were the main factors for me getting the V10.
Isn't the tattle-tale log information just the last few hundred miles? Try driving it easy for about 500, then let them check it. But, if you are hitting the RPM limiter your driving habits are trying to tell you something. The RPM limiter is there to protect the engine, only you can protect yourself.
true this is extream..... i was on my way back from dealer who told me no codes no problem with truck, so i took off from a light in fist gear to over rave it on purpose for i was fealing the ford tough fealing...... take to dealer and he says tough....luck u got one....
but in review i am happy it has a rev limiter and that is a real good thing but i am so unhappy with my new 2003 truck that has exceleration intermitent problems, poor gas milage and it sucks a quart of oil in 2000 miles,,,, that is worst then my 1984 250 i still have and it gets worst milage then the 84 with 351 4x4....
i hope some day after $36,000 for a new truck that i will be able to be happy with it like i love my 84.....this new truck is alot of money for me and was to be somthing i could be proud to own...
