Ford 2020 f350 p2047 def error

Hi all I’ve not been using my truck much and went to the grocery store and got the below error

p2047 I went to autozone and put 2 containers of def cleaner and a jug of shell def and moved to the next store where the error returned. I’ve got home and cleared it again.

I do have 2 active recalls are they any relation to this error or does the truck need a good run on the highway or regen cycle

That code is for an electrical issue, not due to any dirty or clogged DEF injector.
Could be a broken wire, or one where it is rubbed through and exposed to ground, or a connection issue.

So, DEF cleaner and new DEF won't help.

Electrical issue

Any ideas where to start looking for the electrical issue could it be where the sensor is connected to the exhaust ? Any idea how far down the exhaust. Could it be a low battery as I just use the truck for short distance.

any pictures appreciated thanks

Could be anywhere along the wiring harness, from the sensor all the way back into the the main harness to the PCM.
You can see some of it, but takes quite a bit to follow it all.
Could be you've had critters chewing on it since it sits so much.

Manual regen

My next question is there a way to start a manual regen as I don’t think it’s performed one or has tried but with such short runs to the store 10miles 2 a week may not have had enough time.

Sensor looks accessible

Would you suggest checking the harness to the sensor, I do have the 2 open recalls but if I can check the cabling myself for any issues do you think that might help

I would be checking the wiring, if you follow the diagnostic steps it will always have you verify wiring before replacing anything
when you see the word "circuit" in a code then it's a wiring issue, the odd time it's the sensor
when you see the word "performance" in a code it usually the sensor

Couldn't hurt, and if you do find critter damage you can see about doing something to control that.

Wiring damage

Could the battery being low cause this or the body rubbing the wiring harness or lastly as you suggest something chewing it. I would prefer the first 2 as the chewing could be a pain to find.

I’m curious how long the harness for the sensor wire is before it goes to the main loom at least I can get under the truck and check for damage and let you all know

thanks much for the feedback and as you suggested the code which I didn’t notice says electrics

A bad battery or batteries, can cause all kinds of electrical issues, and would definitely be something to check, but it wouldn't be low voltage, voltage does not tell much about battery health.
Get the battery load tested, that tells the health of it.
And, yes, harness rubbing through on the frame, anything that could expose the wire core to possible grounding out.
Rodents chewing through does this, exposing the wire to moisture.
A good shop, not the dealer unless it is under warranty, can go through the diagnostic procedures to trace the issue.

Thanks

Makes total sense I’m north Florida Daytona so will definitely get the battery tested first then find a good indie shop to look, I’ll probably have. A look underneath if I can see anything thanks

You can run a manual regen via FORScan just did it recently. It will tell you your percent clogged then when finished be at 0% clogged, hopefully. Takes about 30-40 min to run.

Happy 4th

Is there a for scan app for my phone or how to your install ? Also I just went out and found some squirrel droppings around the air filter so purchased one of the below. I ran the truck then turned it off and back on and the check engine hasn’t come on as yet.

when I turned it off I heard a wining for 5sec behind the back tire is that the fuel pump and is that normal

What good would a manual regeneration do for an electrical issue with the DEF injector???
