I have a problem with my 1983 Ranger 2.3L single barrel 2WD 4 speed. It runs perfectly except for the initial start. I have replaced the carb with a holly and all timing and adjustments on the carb are sound. When I carnk it in the morning it sputters and sometimes stalls out. I am wondering if anyone has any knowledge on how to repair this annoying problem.

The next time you cold start it, try fine tuning the choke adjustment. Just winging a guess here, but is it set too low?

 

I appreciate the advice Dealford and will give it a try this week if possible. I don't know what else to try and I haven't tinkered with that much.
