Since I had the October flash the truck seems to run okay and shifts quite crisp but I hauled my boat south the other day to get it winterized and the truck seems to have lost a step? I guess I'll end up putting the "Juice" chip or whatever in it to get back what I had before, which was a very solid "push" back in the seat when you got into it. The truck is still getting around 15 mpg +-, a little better if I drive it below 70. But my 5.4 gas only got about that and this is a lot more truck. Anyone had any experience with the "Power edge"? Its real pricey. Is the Diablo going to be out for the 6.0 soon? and how will it compare? My son has a chip in his 02' 7.3 and it runs sweet. He won't trade me trucks though.
No experience with a chip yet,i am kinda waiting for banks to perfect their chip. I was told not to put the "homemade" chips in cause of the difference in certain engine parts in the 6 compared to the 7.3. Was recomended to go ahead with exhaust and air intake upgrades thru banks first, then wait for the brand name chips to start showing up later. Just my opinion..Still gonna wait for the re-flash thats coming in mid spring per andy..
They are doming out with a new flash in the spring because the Oct. flash fixed some quirky little idle things and changed shift points but at the same time they lowered fuel economy by 3-5mpg, reduced acceleration performance, made it louder and created new vibrations in the exhaust. Nice trade off for some idle problems. If you have not had the Oct flash DON'T do it.
However it is still a good truck and I would buy it again except I wouldn't let them flash it until I knew more about the results.
Any way of knowing if you have the October flash. I have had my truck 3 weeks and it is a 2004 engine. Can they go back to the previous flash? Any help appreciated! THANKS!!!
I believe I read on here somewhere that all new trucks have the oct flash? And no, you can't go back after its flashed. Its basically a new program. I may be in error here but I think I read that on a previous thread also. Its kinda like going from Windows 98 to 2000. its an update but to what end. Windows 2000 sucked and until they came out with XP, good, but still has some bug's. Are there any computer Guru's out there?

If it is a 2004 engine then there is no new flash. The true 2004s only have their original programing. They can be reflashed but at this point, with only original programing, all they are doing is reinstalling the same thing.

If you have a pecific computer installed with Win98, install Win 2000, then install XP, yes you can go back. It's not a matter of can't with Ford, it is a matter of won't.
I just had the ford regional tech working on my truck and I have bee getting the check engine light come on every 3 weeks with the new flash. They replaced the turbo 2 times. The october flash created problems and there will be a new R19 flash coming out second week in januraey to solve all the idle problems and the 2663 code faults.
